Kyle Swan

Kyle Swan (athletics) and the men’s 10km walk will both make Commonwealth Games debuts at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Kyle began in Little Athletics when he was six after tagging along with his older brother. He thought he may as well join in too. Walking eventually took his fancy and he made his junior international debut at the 2015 World Youth Championships, with his last two international appearances as a teenager in 2018 seeing him finish top 10 at both the World Race Walking Cup (juniors) and the world under-20 titles. Coached by Australian race walking royalty and Delhi 2010 gold medallist Jared Tallent, Kyle made his Olympic debut in Tokyo, finishing 36th in the stifling conditions for the 20km event, and now will be looking to emulate his coach in Birmingham. The University of Melbourne Bachelor of Science graduate did a 10km walk personal best of 39 minutes, 22 seconds in January 2022, taking him inside the Australian all-time top 10.
