Lidiia Iakovleva

Lidiia Iakavleva (Gymnastics) will make her Commonwealth Games debut at the Birmingham 2022 Games. Born in Petrozavodsk, Russia, Lidiia decided to take up rhythmic gymnastics after it was suggested by her dance teacher. She first trained at the Petrozavodsk Rhythmic Gymnastics Club. After a successful run at the junior events at the Australian Nationals, including winning All-Around titles from 2016-2018, she was selected to compete at the 2018 Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires. In fact, at the 2018 Nationals Lidiia claimed all of the individual disciplines as well. She also competed for Australia at the 2016 Pacific Rim Championships in the US, finishing 5th in the All-Around competition and taking bronze in the Clubs. In 2019, she competed in the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Baku, achieving a personal best of 17.700 for her Clubs routine, the highest score any individual Australian Rhythmic gymnast has received at a World Championship or FIG Competition under the current Code of Points 65th all around, 84th hoop, 57th ball, 62nd clubs, 114th ribbon Lidiia is hoping to build on her solid form from her Olympic debut in Tokyo in 2020, where she achieved her personal best score of 78.775 and finished in 23rd place.
