Natalie Rule (athletics) made her Commonwealth Games debut at Birmingham 2022 where she finished 18th in the women’s 5000m. It was part of a stellar year for the Victorian runner: she set personal best times across the 1500m (4:09.13), 3000m (9:06.68), 5000m (15:06.50), 10,000m (32:46) and half marathon (1:11.24). She also made her world championships debut in Eugene but pulled out at the halfway mark of her 5000m heat due to heat stress.
After a year checkered with injury, she came back strongly in 2024, registering a win at the Nagoya Half Marathon, finishing second at the Australian half marathon championships in a blistering 1:13:37 and lowering her 5000m PB to 15:03.48 at the Portland Track Festival in Oregon.
Natalie stormed onto the Australian athletics scene in 2010, with 800m wins at the Victorian and under-15 Australian championships. Taking out the 2019 Vic Milers meet in 4:48.80, Rule turned her focus to middle- and long-distance and quickly found her stride, completing her first international season in Europe that year.
Natalie is studying for a Bachelor of Health Sciences at Deakin University.
