Natalie Van Coevorden
Natalie van Coevorden (triathlon) made her Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham where she finished 14th in the women’s individual event and took bronze as part of the mixed team relay. Natalie started in triathlon in 2009 after being recruited to a National Talent Identification program. Since then, she has been to multiple world championships from junior to elite level and finished 11th overall in the World Triathlon Series in 2018, her highest end-of-season ranking so far. In 2018 she claimed silver in the world championships as part of Australia’s mixed relay team in Hamburg. Natalie spent eight years training in France and Portugal but the pandemic saw her reunite with her family in Australia where she set up a gym in the backyard in Campbelltown in southwest Sydney. The decision by the International Triathlon Union to suspend all major races in 2020 severely hampered her attempt to make the Tokyo Olympic team, but she now has her sights set on Paris in 2024.
