Nathan Lawson

Nathan Lawson (rugby 7s) made his debut for the Australian Sevens on the biggest stage of all when he joined the Olympic squad in Tokyo in 2021. The Cronulla flyer has since become a regular member of the side, helping Australia to their first World Rugby Sevens Series title in 2021-22 and making his Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham.

Coach Tim Walsh asked Nathan to be part of a squad of Sydney players providing training opposition ahead of the Tokyo Olympics but was so impressed, he offered him a short-term contract and when Henry Paterson withdrew due to injury, he received a late call-up to go to Tokyo.

Lawson is a former member of the Waratahs Gen Blues squad and now plays for Southern Districts in the Shute Shield. He attended Newington College in Sydney, graduating in 2016.
