Nick Malouf

Nick Malouf (rugby 7s) has been part of the Australian Sevens set-up for over a decade and captained the Australian team at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Originally a flanker with the University of Queensland, Malouf was a member of the national development side the Aussie Thunderbolts before being drafted into the Australian Sevens’ program in 2012, making his debut in a World Series tournament in Dubai.

Malouf was a regular member of the squad over the next three years but ruptured his ACL in September 2015, forcing him to miss the 2015/16 tournaments. Upon recovery, he gained selection for rugby sevens’ Olympic debut in Rio in 2016 where Australia went down in the quarter-finals to eventual bronze medallists South Africa.

Malouf spent a season with the Leicester Tigers in the UK in 2017-18 before returning to the fold, although he was not part of the 2018 Commonwealth Games squad. He captained Australia at his second Olympic appearance in Tokyo in 2021, where the Aussies were beaten by the eventual gold medallists Fiji in the quarter-finals.

Malouf has a Bachelor of Commerce and works part time as a business analyst for advisory and investment firm KordaMentha.
