Noel Freeman

Noel Freeman (athletics) was one of Australia’s greatest race walkers, and the first in a line of successful Commonwealth Games and Olympic racewalkers for Australia. Guided by the legendary Percy Cerutty, Freeman won a silver medal in the 20km walk at the 1960 Rome Olympics before finishing 4th four years later at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Freeman won gold in the 20-mile walk at the 1970 Edinburgh Games. During his career, Freeman won nine national titles and set world, commonwealth and national records on the track and roads.
