Oscar Stubbs

Oscar Stubbs (swimming) narrowly missed selection for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics but the Kurt Fearnley Scholarship winner made his Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham where he finished fifth in the men’s 50m freestyle S13.

Oscar was born with a visual impairment, optic neuropathy (damage to the optic nerve) and congenital nystagmus (a rapid, involuntary shaking movement in the eyes), leaving him with less than 20 per cent field vision in each eye. Oscar has had a wide and varied sporting career that also includes representing Australia in vision-impaired football and blind cricket, and vision-impaired tennis and cricket for NSW. He has also played blind AFL for St Kilda.

Oscar is a member of the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre Swim Club where he is also employed as a Casual Aquatic Program Instructor.
