Ridge Barredo

Ridge Barredo (weightlifting) will make his second Commonwealth Games appearance in Birmingham after finishing 8th in the 105kg class at the Gold Coast 2018 Games. Originally a basketballer, he played junior rugby league, including being part of the Cronulla Sharks SG Ball (under 18) team in 2013 and got into weightlifting through CrossFit. Barredo made his international debut at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in 2016 in India. A year later, he claimed bronze at the championships on the Gold Coast, then double bronze at the 2019 Pacific titles in Samoa. Barredo set his snatch best (153kg) in March 2021 and clean and jerk PB (187kg) in February 2022. He is coached by Michael Pang at the Aklon Weightlifting Club in Sydney.
