Russell Pery
Russell ‘Nev’ Pery (weightlifting) competed at the 1960 and 1968 Olympic Games and three editions of the Commonwealth Games – Perth 1962, Kingston 1966 and Edinburgh in 1970. Pery enjoyed his greatest success at Edinburgh, winning the gold medal in the 75kg class, after winning bronze four years earlier at Kingston in the same category. The Queenslander won eight Australian titles across the 67.5kg to 90kg divisions from 1959 to 1971.
