Sal Sansonetti

Sal Sansonetti (cycling) carried the Australian flag alongside twin brother Remo at the opening ceremony of the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton where he competed alongside his brother in the road race. Sal competed in the 100km team time trial event at the 1976 Olympics for Australia where the team finished ninth. The Sansonetti’s arrived in Australia in the 1960’s and went on to become Australian cycling legends. For many years, the Sansonetti’s produced the bikes for the Australian track cycling team. Remo and Sal were inducted into the Victorian Cycling Hall of Fame in 2016.
