Salvatore Castiglione

Salvatore ‘Sam’ Castiglione (weightlifting) competed for Australia in weightlifting at the Edmonton 1978 Commonwealth Games. He broke two Games records en route to winning gold in the middleweight class. After his athletic career, Castiglione remained in the sport of weightlifting becoming a coach and then sport administration. Castiglione served as president of Commonwealth Games Australia – WA division and the vice president of the Western Australian Olympic Committee.
