Sam Fox

Sam Fox (cycling) made his Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham where he finished 6th in the mountain bike cross-country, Australia’s highest-placed rider in the event. He also competed in the men’s road race where he was 48th.

Sam starting riding when he was three and first raced in a twilight criterium in Launceston when he was eight. He won the Tasmanian all-schools championship in 2016 and the following year pulled off a stunning victory in the Junior Oceania titles in Toowoomba. His first national title came in 2021 when he claimed the under-23 crown not long after finishing second to Dan McConnell in the 100km Otway Odyssey.

2023 was massive year for Sam, his first season as an elite rider. He won both the short track and Olympic cross-country national titles in Thredbo and scored his first European win in Slovenia which helped him secure his first professional contract with Lapierre Mavic Unity.
