Sam Williamson

Sam Williamson (swimming) completed a full set of medals on his Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham, including gold in the inaugural mixed 4x100m medley as well as silver and bronze in his two individual breaststroke events.

Williamson had previously enjoyed success in short course meets including a sweep of the breaststroke events at the Australian championships in 2019, followed by his victory in the 50m in 2020 which was held as a virtual meet due to COVID.

The Melbourne University science student got his start with Firbank Aquastars where he trained for almost a decade under Jason Cooper before moving to join Craig Jackson’s squad at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatics Centre.
