Se-Bom Lee

Se-Bom Lee (swimming) made his Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham where he reached the final of the 200m individual medley and 400m individual medley. The Sydney swimmer earned his ticket to the Games after finishing second in both events at the 2022 Australian championships.

Se-Bom, who has Korean heritage, began swimming aged 4 and joined a squad two years later after tagging along with older sisters Sophia and Gemma. His breakthrough came at the 2019 Australian Age Championships where he claimed gold in the 200m backstroke, 200m individual medley and 400m individual medley, resulting in selection for the world juniors where he made the 400m final.

He spent most of 2020 out of the water with a shoulder injury, but a personal best and a second place in the 400m at the 2021 Australian Olympic trials earned him a ticket to Tokyo but he did not qualify for the final.

Se-Bom trains with Chris Nesbit at the Ryde-Carlile Swim Club where he also works as a swimming instructor while studying for a Bachelor of Medical Science at the University of Technology, Sydney.
