Shayna Jack

Shayna Jack (swimming) made an emotional return to the Dolphins national swim squad in 2022, earning her ticket to her second Commonwealth Games in Birmingham where she picked up a full set of medals, including a second consecutive gold in the 4x100m freestyle, as well as silver in the 100m freestyle and bronze in the 50m freestyle. Four years earlier, she won gold as a member of the 4x100m freestyle relay team at the Gold Coast Games, breaking the world record in the final, as well as a finishing 4th in both the 50m and 100m freestyle.

Almost three years earlier, the Queenslander had been forced to withdraw from the world championships team in Gwangju in 2019 after testing positive for a banned substance. Jack strenuously fought a subsequent four-year ban – eventually reduced to two years when it was found that the use was inadvertent – and immediately returned to Dean Boxall’s squad in Brisbane.

Shayna also returned to the world championships stage in 2022 where she won gold in 4x100m free and silver in 4x100m medley mixed in Budapest.

She also appeared as a contestant on Channel Seven’s SAS Australia in 2021.
