Shelley Watts

Shelley Watts (boxing) made Australian sport history after she claimed the nation’s first female boxing gold medal at the Commonwealth Games when she won the lightweight division at the Glasgow 2014 Games. In the first women’s boxing tournament in the history of the Games, Watts smashed her way to the gold medal bout and would not be denied against the tough Indian boxer Laishram Devi, who landed some hard shots before Watts hit her straps. Watts went on to make her Olympic debut at the Rio 2016 Games, Australia’s only female fighter at the Games – six years after turning to boxing to regain fitness as an injured footballer. The boxer is a massive South Sydney Rabbitohs fan in Australia’s National Rugby League.
