Trevor Bickle

Trevor Bickle (athletics) won back-to-back gold medals in the pole vault, firstly at the 1962 Commonwealth Games in Perth, at just 19-years-old, with a vault of 4.50m and then again in Jamaica four years later at the 1966 Games, retaining the Commonwealth title with a vault of 4.80m – his best competition result. Steve Hooker is the only other Australian male to win back-to-back titles, with Alana Boyd also achieving the feat. Bickle won Australian titles in 1963, 1966 and 1967 but was unlucky to miss selection for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics when he broke his pole during the selection trials.
