It was a bittersweet day for the Australian Jackaroos despite an undefeated day at Glasgow 2026.

Men’s singles

Aaron Wilson has all but booked his place in the semifinals thanks to a 10-1 10-2 trouncing of the Cook Islands’ Royden Aperau.

After a close start to the first set, the man affectionately known as Disco put the pedal to the metal to race away to victory thanks to some clinical shot play.

It leaves the Australian needing to only win one set in his final match against Jersey’s Taylor Greechan tomorrow to book passage to the semifinals.

Women’s pairs

It was a perfect day for Dawn Hayman and Kelsey Cottrell, who have kept the heat on those above them with an 11-1 16-0 win against Niue’s Catherine Papani and Christine Ioane.

The duo were on song from the outset, enjoying a comprehensive opening set to put the pressure on their counterparts.

Hayman and Cottrell’s dominance continued in the second, making quick work of the contest to not only gain a vital straight sets win but more importantly, improve their shot difference as their onslaught on the semis continues.

The win means that if Hayman and Cottrell win their deciding game in straight sets with a margin of ten shots combined, they will move to the semifinals.

Hayman and Cottrell are back in action tomorrow against Northern Ireland’s Chloe Wilson and Shauna O’Neill (Monday 11:45pm AEST).

Vision impaired mixed pairs

It was not to be for Jacky Hudson (Claire Turley director) and Jake Fehlberg (Karen Murphy AM director), who despite defeating England’s Ron Homer (Sue Davies director) and Sally-Ann Lewis-Wall (Elizabeth Shipley director) 7-4 3-4 1-0, it was not enough to ensure progression into the semifinals.

The opening set saw the Australians ran out to a 5-0 lead before Lewis-Wall netted a four to put pressure on the green and gold before Fehlberg absolutely nail the final end to take the opener.

Needing to win the second set to move into the semifinals, Hudson and Fehlberg moved to a 3-0 buffer before England levelled proceedings into the deciding end.

Hudson played a superb end before the English took shot, with Fehlberg mightily close on all of his bowls but unable to gain the end and Australia’s spot in the semi.

The Australians would win the tiebreak but ultimately fall short of England on sets.

The 2026 Commonwealth Games runs from July 23 to August 2, 2026, in Glasgow. The matches will be broadcast LIVE on the screens of 7 and 7Plus.
