Hosted by Dave Culbert

Delving into all things Commonwealth Games between now and the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

We recap the week that was, chat to a Games star of the past, present or future and take a look at the week ahead for our Commonwealth Games aspirants.

EPISODE 26: Robert de Castella

Robert ‘Deek’ de Castella was a household name throughout the 1980’s, particularly after his golden moment on Brisbane’s Coronation Drive.

It was the second last day of the 1982 Commonwealth Games – as Friday morning commuters made their way to work, Deek rose for business of a different kind.

In this episode of ‘Gold Coast Gold’ Deek talks us through the thrilling showdown that saw him close a 250 metre gap in the final five kilometres to take the gold.

Delving into life after sport, Deek also discusses the work his charity Indigenous Marathon Foundation does to celebrate indigenous resilience and create inspirational leaders.

A fascinating chat.
