The Netball competition is for women only. It has been included in all Commonwealth Games since 1998 when team sports were first introduced.
It made its first appearance in the 1990 Games as a demonstration sport. It is now obligatory to include Netball on each Commonwealth Games program.
The governing body for Netball in Australia is Netball Australia.

Former Australian Diamonds goal-attack Natalie Medhurst has announced her retirement from the sport, after a decorated 17-year career, which included winning gold for Australia at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and silver at the Dehli 2010 Games.
