The Netball competition is for women only. It has been included in all Commonwealth Games since 1998 when team sports were first introduced.
It made its first appearance in the 1990 Games as a demonstration sport. It is now obligatory to include Netball on each Commonwealth Games program.
The governing body for Netball in Australia is Netball Australia.

20 athletes have been named as part of Netball Australia’s Development Squad aimed at developing the nation’s next crop of potential Samsung Diamonds in preparation for the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the 2023 Netball World Cup.

Netball Australia has partnered with Commonwealth Games Australia on a program aimed at developing the next crop of netballers demonstrating potential to progress into the Samsung Australian Diamonds program within the next three years, and ultimately Birmingham 2022.
