Faith Nathan

Faith Nathan (rugby 7s) was a crucial playmaker in Australia’s gold-medal winning campaign at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, scoring four tries during the tournament, including two in the final against Fiji. Faith, who played alongside her cousin Sariah Paki in Birmingham, was one of four Australian players named in the 2022 World Series Dream Team of the Year.

Faith was part of the Australian women’s touch football team, but her first game of sevens could have put her off for life; she was so scared of tackling she stepped out of the way so her rival could score. When she finally summoned up the courage take down a player, her technique was so poor she was shown a yellow card.

Following a stint with the Cronulla Sharks under-18 outfit, the pocket rocket made her international debut at the Dubai Sevens in 2019 and her Olympic debut in Tokyo in 2021 where her highlight was meeting US basketball superstar Kevin Durant.

Faith grew up at Berkeley Vale on the NSW central coast and credits her Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College teacher Mr Howard for helping her pursue her dream, while her mum Edith is her greatest supporter.

Her uncle Steve Berryman represented the Cook Islands in rugby sevens at the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.
