Jacob Schueler
Jacob Schueler (badminton) made his Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham where he was eliminated in the round of 64 in the men’s singles and reached the quarter finals with Nathan Tang in the men’s doubles. Growing up in Geelong, Jacob started playing badminton when he was 11 and at 16 earned a scholarship in at Maribyrnong College Sports Academy in Melbourne. He made numerous Victorian junior teams until he was selected to represent Australia at the under-19 Pan Pacific titles in 2016. Further strong performances saw him named for the team to go to the world junior titles later that same year. Jacob won the men’s singles at the Australian National Championships in 2019 and repeated the result in 2022 in Bendigo, beating Gavin Ong in the final. He was also a member of the Australian team for the Thomas Cup in 2020. Jacob plays for the Ocean Grove Badminton Club in Victoria and was part of the Australian Institute of Sport Emerging talent squad.
