Kaitlyn Ea

Kaitlyn Ea (badminton) made her Commonwealth Games debut in Birmingham where she reached the round of 16 in both the women’s doubles with Angela Yu and mixed doubles with Jack Yu. Kaitlyn represented Australia at both the 2018 and 2019 world junior titles. The Melbourne-born player was the Australian junior doubles champion in 2019 and was approached to partner Gronya Somerville for the 2022 Australian seniors’ titles in the women’s doubles. The pair played their first international event at the Orleans Masters in The Netherlands in March 2022. This was also Kaitlyn’s first appearance at a Badminton World Tour event. Kaitlyn took out the 2022 Australian women’s doubles title with Somerville, beating Joyce Choong and Sylvinna Kurniawan in the final, and claimed bronze in the women’s singles, losing to Tiffany Ho. The pair then claimed silver at the 2022 Oceania Championships. She was also part of Australia’s 2022 Uber Cup team. Kaitlyn is studying at the University of Melbourne and plays at Infinity Badminton where she is coached by Australian Olympic Games and Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games representative Lenny Permana.
