Maddison Levi

Maddison Levi (rugby 7s) was the standout player in the Australian women’s team that claimed their first Commonwealth Games gold medal in Birmingham in 2022. Making her Games debut alongside younger sister Teagan Levi, the long-striding winger scored 50 points and 10 tries during the tournament, including three in the crucial semi-final win over New Zealand and one in the final against Fiji.

Maddison and Teagen both went to Miami State High School on the Gold Coast where they were members of the rugby sevens excellence program. They were stars of the side at the Queensland All Schools State Championships and the Queensland under 17s at the National Youth 7s in 2019.

After leaving school, Maddie switched codes to join the AFL Women’s National Academy in 2020 and played for Bond University in the top-level QAFLW competition. Drafted to the Gold Coast Suns, she made her AFLW debut in 2021, juggling both sports as she made her rugby sevens Olympic debut at the Tokyo Olympics. However, she was released from the Suns to take up a full-time sevens contract at the end of the season.

The 2022 World Series Rookie of the Year also topped the standings in both the 20m sprint (2.990 secs) and single-leg vertical jump (75cm) at the 2020 AFLW Draft Combine which is an opportunity for potential players to show off their physical skills in a range of athletic events.
