Megan Schutt

The mainstay of Australia’s bowling attack, Megan Schutt trails only Ellyse Perry for wickets in the T20 format.

Schutt was born in Adelaide and loved playing street cricket and filled in for the local team when she was 11. She followed through the South Australia junior pathways, although she played Australian football, including time as a boundary umpire.

She made her international debut in December 2012, played in the World Cup in India the following year and finished as the leading wicket taker for the tournament as Australia claimed the cup.

Schutt was the first female bowler to take two international hat-tricks – the first in a T20 match against India in 2018, then against the West Indies in a one-day international the following year. At the 2020 Women’s T20 World Cup, Schutt was again the leading bowler and in 2021 became the second-fastest woman to take 100 one-day international wickets.

Nicknamed Shooter, she married her long-term partner Jess Holyoake in 2019 and the couple welcomed a daughter Rylee in August 2021.
