Aussie gymnasts in pursuit of World Cup gold

The closing round of the World Cup qualifications have given rise to six Australian gymnasts who will battle it out in this weekends finals series at Hisense Arena.

Australian Commonwealth Games gold medallist, Emily Little recorded the third best score in Floor, securing another opportunity for podium success in a third apparatus final, alongside Queeslander Georgia Godwin.

Godwin managed to turn her Floor routine around after landing low in some of her early tumbling lines.

In the men’s apparatus, Australian Clay Stephens completed a superb routine to finish just ahead of Mitchell Morgans, both advancing through to Saturday’s parallel bar finals.

The country’s Vault Champion Chris Remkes kicked his routine off in spectacular fashion but rolled out of his second landing, his final score was just enough to secure him a position in the final.

This weekend’s finals series kicks off 6pm tonight at Melbourne’s Hisense Arena.
