Aussie Team Members ready to be Bold, Brave and Brilliant in Birmingham

190 Team Members have been selected so far to represent Australia at the upcoming Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

With yesterday’s Badminton Team Announcement, 190 Australian Team Members have booked their tickets to the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The Australian Team currently features 99 female Team Members, 90 male Team Members and one non-binary Team Member.

Currently, four First Nations Team Members have been selected to represent Australia at the Games.

128 of the 190 Team Members will be making their Commonwealth Games debuts at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Of those 128, eight come from the Australian Badminton Falcons selections for Birmingham as badminton looks to a new generation for international medal success.

The 10-strong team is aiming to break a gold-medal drought dating back to Lisa Campbell’s success in Victoria, Canada in 1994.

Australia last won a medal in badminton at the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games.

FRESH-FACED FALCONS IN FULL FLIGHT FOR BIRMINGHAM

The 10-strong Australian Falcons team are bound for Birmingham, ready to be bold, brave and brilliant against the best players from across the Commonwealth.

An inspiring squad of champions blessed with courage and resilience has been named in the Australian Para-table tennis team for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Six Para-table tennis stars and two able-bodied players have now been selected to round out a 14-strong team, the biggest Australian table tennis squad for a Commonwealth Games, who will be vying for gold when they represent the green and gold between July 28 and August 8.

With eight additional Team Members, the Australian table tennis team is set for Birmingham, the 14-strong squad is the largest team to represent the green and gold at a Commonwealth Games.

Australia’s all-conquering women’s cricket team will seek to add an historic first to their trophy cabinet at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games commencing in late July.

An all-star cast of 15 players has been chosen to represent Australia in the first women’s cricket competition to be held at the Games – a T20 tournament featuring the top eight nations in the Commonwealth.

After producing a phenomenal performance to claim the World Cup in the One Day International (ODI) format in March, the women’s team is chasing the nation’s first Commonwealth Games gold medal in cricket.

An exciting squad of 46 able-bodied Australian Dolphins have been selected to take on the best swimmers from across the Commonwealth in Birmingham.

The first 32 members of the Australian Athletics Team for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games have been revealed, with a mix of youth and experience set to light up the track, field and roads in Birmingham this August.

Featuring 11 Commonwealth Games medallists including four defending champions, the team selected thus far includes Australia’s best track and field talent, all of whom have received automatic selection or invitations to compete in Birmingham.

A cult hero and her heir apparent feature in a talented squad of table tennis players who will represent Australia at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Jian Fang Lay, a remarkable 49-year-old mother of two who has won seven Commonwealth Games medals since her debut for Australia in Manchester 20 years ago, is among the six selections made to date.

Lay, who has been a standard bearer for Australian sport for more than two decades, brings great experience to a youthful team and will be striving for a historic gold after successful appearances at Manchester in 2002, Melbourne in 2006 and Glasgow in 2014. She has also competed in six Olympic Games.

HEIR APPARENT JOINS ACE IN BIRMINGHAM TABLE TENNIS TEAM

The first six Table Tennis Australian Team Members have been selected who will test their skills against the Commonwealth’s best players in Birmingham.

An elite squad of 27 Para-swimmers is poised to represent Australia with distinction at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games from July 28 to August 8, with the Team Members being revealed today at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre.

From decorated champion Ellie Cole OAM to teenage sensation Isabella Vincent, the team chosen to swim for the green and gold has a proven record of success and includes eight Commonwealth Games medallists and eight Paralympic gold medallists.

COLE, PATTERSON AND LEVY AMONGST STARS OF THE POOL READY TO SPLASH AND DASH IN BIRMINGHAM

The first Australian Swimming Team Members have been selected as they prepare to take on the Commonwealth’s best swimmers in Birmingham.

The four Team Members include Queensland’s 52-year-old triple Paralympian Gerrard Gosens OAM, Tokyo Paralympic teammates 31-year-old Sam Harding (athletics) from the ACT and 39-year-old Jonathan Goerlach (NSW), and fellow 39-year-old Tasmanian Erica Burleigh.

They will be joined by their guides Hayden Armstrong (Gosens), Luke Harvey (Harding), David Mainwaring (Goerlach) and Felicity Cradick (Burleigh).

BIRMINGHAM PARA-TRIATHLON THE NEXT MOUNTAIN TO CLIMB FOR EVEREST CONQUEROR GERRARD GOSENS

Commonwealth Games Australia has today unveiled a team of four vision impaired Para-Triathletes ready to take on the Commonwealth’s best at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

A pair of world-class beach volleyball combinations will be out to add to their stellar representative record with gold for Australia at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho del Solar, along with Chris McHugh, starred when beach volleyball was played for the first time in the Commonwealth Games at the Gold Coast in 2018.

Adelaide’s McHugh claimed a gold medal when partnering the now-retired Damien Schumann on the beaches of the Gold Coast four years ago.

In Birmingham, he will team with Commonwealth Games debutant Paul Burnett, a West Australian now based in Adelaide, to defend Australia’s gold medal.

AUSSIE STARS READY TO RETURN TO THE SAND IN BIRMINGHAM

The four Beach Volleyball Team Members are ready to don the green and gold and dig deep at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Tina Rahimi is aiming to follow the example set by her trailblazing female teammates when she boxes for Australia at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games later this year.

Rahimi, 26, who is one of eight making their debut in an 11-strong Australian boxing team for the Games, hopes to create a golden legacy in the 57kg division.

The boxer from Bass Hill in Sydney, who took up the sport to improve her fitness, has become an important role model in the Muslim community and believes she is capable of winning gold in Birmingham.

Rahimi will create history for herself and her community when she becomes the first Muslim female to box for Australia at the Commonwealth Games.

“I know that I have the potential and capability to get the gold, so I have really dedicated myself to the sport,” Rahimi said.

Cikamatana could become the first woman to win Commonwealth Games gold medals for two different countries in individual events when she competes in Birmingham.

Cikamatana, 22, claimed gold for Fiji in the 90kg class at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games and is among an 11-strong Australian weightlifting squad striving for success in England.
