Australia’s weightlifting team has wrapped up a strong Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games campaign with one gold and two bronze medals, led by the history-making performance of Eileen Cikamatana.

Cikamatana once again proved why she’s one of Australia’s greatest weightlifters, claiming her third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal in the women’s 86kg division.

Lifting with confidence throughout the competition, she secured victory with a Games record total to add another remarkable achievement to an already decorated career.

Australia’s other medals came courtesy of two rising stars; Nya Hayman produced an outstanding performance to claim bronze in the women’s 69kg category, while Oliver Saxton added another bronze in the men’s 94kg division after a composed six-from-six performance on the competition platform.

Beyond the medal winners, the Australian team showed plenty of promise across the competition.

Several athletes were making their Commonwealth Games debut, gaining valuable experience against some of the strongest weightlifting nations in the world.

From personal bests to hard-fought top-eight finishes, every lifter contributed to a positive team campaign.

The standard of competition in Glasgow was high, with lifters from India, England, Canada, Malaysia and Samoa all producing impressive performances across the five days of competition.

Australia responded with determination and consistency, ensuring the green and gold remained firmly in the medal mix throughout the event.

While Cikamatana’s historic third gold was undoubtedly the headline, Hayman and Saxton’s bronze medals highlighted the depth of talent within the Australian team.

Together, the trio ensured Australia finished the Games with three weightlifting medals and plenty to celebrate after another successful Commonwealth Games campaign.
