The former Commonwealth Games Australia (CGA) Director Darryl Clout AM has been elevated to become a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) as part of the King’s Birthday Honours.
A member of the Board from 2018-2024, as well as Chair of the Heritage and Awards Committee, Clout additionally served as the President of World Bowls from 2021-2024 and the Vice President of World Softball from 2013-2017.
A senior bureaucrat in the New South Wales Government, his work included service as Ministerial Advisor to the Hon. John Watkins AM, the Minister for Sport and Minister for Police at the time of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
Clout was recognised for his service to international sports administration, and to the community.
Clout is joined on the honouree list by Yvonne Mullins AM, Kim Owens AM and Ned Coten AM, each of whom were also elevated to Members of the Order of Australia (AM).
Mullins was recognised for her service to international sports administration, particularly athletics.
She currently serves as the Executive Director of the Oceania Athletics Association, but her connection with Commonwealth Games began at Brisbane 1982 when she was a volunteer.
Mullins has since held technical roles at the Samoa 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games and the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Owens, also recognised for her service to athletics, is a world-leading official, with her commitment to sport delivery seeing her serve as a Track Umpire at Melbourne 2006 and the Meeting Manager at Gold Coast 2018.
For Coten, his services to basketball were recognised, having served, among other things, as President and Chair of Basketball Australia from 2014-2021 and Team Manager for the Australian Boomers in 2001-2003.
Australian athletes Michael Murphy OAM and Peter Watson OAM were also recognised with Medals of the Order of Australia (OAM).
Murphy is a two-time diving gold medallist from Victoria 1994, while Watson, who was recognised for services to the Parliament of Western Australia, competed in athletics in Christchurch in 1974.
Gary Barclay OAM was also awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for services to swimming.

“To Daryl, we extend our congratulations and thanks for years of dedicated service to the Australian Commonwealth Games Team. He was an extensive contributor to not only our Board, but to those of World Bowls and World Softball alongside a distinguished career in the public service.”
