The release of the event-by-event competition schedule has set the stage for an action-packed Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, confirming 215 medal events to be contested across 10 sports.

Para-Powerlifting will kick off the medal action on day one, with the first gold medals of the Games to be awarded, before Swimming and Para-Swimming continue the excitement into the evening.

The Australian Swimming Team will look to defend both the men’s and women’s 4x100m freestyle relay crowns, with the fan-favourite events set to make a splash in the opening finals session on Friday 24 July.

The action ramps up across the opening weekend, with a bumper line-up of six sports.

In the pool, the women’s 200m freestyle and men’s 400m freestyle, both events where Australia claimed clean sweeps at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, are set to be among the highlights, while Artistic Gymnastics will feature both the men’s and women’s all-around finals.

Athletics and Para-Athletics will launch their campaigns from Monday 27 July, with the hotly contested men’s and women’s 100m sprints closing out the evening session on Tuesday 28 July.

The track and field program will continue to showcase some of the world’s best, before the iconic Commonwealth Mile makes its return to close the competition on Saturday 1 August.

Boxing will feature 14 weight categories contested across eight days of competition, while Track Cycling is set to light up the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, with the fierce rivalry between England and Australia sure to draw crowds.

On the court, the Australian Diamonds will be chasing back-to-back Commonwealth Games gold medals, with the Netball gold medal match set to bring the curtain down on a thrilling final day of competition on Sunday 2 August.

Australian Team Chef de Mission Petria Thomas OAM OLY noted the excitement of the confirmed event competition schedule.

“With the complete competition schedule now confirmed, the momentum toward Glasgow continues to build and it feels more real than ever,” Thomas said.

“Our athletes can now begin to fine-tune their preparations knowing when they’ll step onto the field of play, while fans can start planning where and when they’ll be cheering on the green and gold.

“From the first medal event through to the final day of competition, this schedule promises non-stop action and incredible opportunities for our Australian athletes to perform at their best, in what will certainly be a thrilling celebration of sport.”
