Livingstone, Toomey, Rodgers and Milward acknowledged as part of King’s Birthday Honours

Nicole Livingstone AO headlines the members of the Commonwealth Sport family acknowledged as part of the King’s Birthday Honours List today.

Livingstone has been elevated to an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished services to sports development and administration, to the promotion of women’s sport and to community health. 

She is a nine-time Games medallist, winning 100m backstroke and 4x100m medley relay gold at Auckland 1990 alongside silver in the 200m backstroke after making her debut four years earlier in Edinburgh with bronze. She 

Livingstone now serves as CEO of the Victorian Institute of Sport, a critical system partner supporting the delivery of Australia’s team to Glasgow 2026 next year. 

Tia-Clair Toomey AM and John Rodgers AM have been made Members of the Order of Australia. 

Toomey has been acknowledged for services to crossfit and weightlifting. She won a gold medal in the women’s 58kg division at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. 

Rodgers has been acknowledged for services to swimming as a high performance coach, highlighted by his role with the Australian Commonwealth Games Team at Brisbane 1982. 

We also commend Karen Milward AM, for her significant service to Indigenous advocacy and reconciliation. 

Milward has been integral in the development of our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan as a member of the Reconciliation Action Plan Advisory Group.

“To see worthy contributors from our community recognised as part of King’s Birthday Honours if fantastic.” 

“Be it in the pool winning gold or as a Games volunteer, we thank you for your involvement with the Games in Australia.”  

We also note Medal of the Order of Australia recipients Nancy Emblin OAM, a volunteer at Melbourne 2006, Ian Cousins OAM, a member of the Liaison Committee at Gold Coast 2018 and Christopher May OAM, a Queen’s Baton Relay runner at Gold Coast 2018 for his work in veteran welfare.
