It was a triple treat for Australia in Türkiye, as Kate McDonald brought home two silver medals, while Breanna Scott collected a bronze to round out a stunning international return at the Apparatus World Cup at the weekend.

Under the bright lights of the Ibrahim Colak Gymnastics Hall, McDonald secured second place on both Balance Beam and Floor in a stunning hour of power on Sunday afternoon, while Victorian Breanna Scott’s bronze came on Beam.

National Coaching and Performance Lead – Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, Tara Duncanson, is buoyed by the results and glad to see McDonald and Scott get reward for effort on the big stage.

“The results are exceptional, and both Kate and Bre can be very proud of their efforts in Türkiye,” she said. “This week was all about attempting routines with maximum difficulty, so for it to manifest in such strong results is a cherry on top.

“Both of them had to deal with a disrupted preparation for this event, but it is an absolute credit to them and a testament to their skill and resilience that they could both get out there and come away with medals.”

The commanding performance in Antalya sees McDonald add a further two World Cup medals to the pair she earned in 2025, as she continues to impress on the world stage, and set the foundation for another successful year.

On Beam, where she had qualified in third place with a score of 13.066 earlier in the week, McDonald shone in the final, the reigning Commonwealth Champion proving yet again that she is a force to be reckoned with on the apparatus.

Delivering with a score of 12.733, McDonald’s score secured second place, as she was narrowly pipped for the gold by rising star, Milana Kaiumova (12.766).

Not done there, McDonald backed up for the Floor final within the hour, chasing a second medal. Having qualified in third place there, too (12.900), McDonald was able to improve both her score and her ranking to take out a podium position.

In the final, the Victorian delivered a routine of 13.066, a stunning showing to finish behind only Liudmila Roshchina (13.333) and ensure she would add a second silver to medal to her collection.

A hugely successful World Cup for Australia, Breanna Scott also climbed onto the podium for the first time in three years at a World Cup, as she took out bronze on Balance Beam. Her pet event, the twenty-four-year-old improved from her qualification score (12.666) under the pressure of the final with a composed routine, to finish with 12.700.

Enough to join McDonald on the podium, it represents Scott’s first World Cup medal since Doha in 2023, as the Waverley Gymnastics product continues to shine under the pressure of international competition.

It was the continuation of a strong weekend for Scott, who had earlier competed in her maiden Bars final at a World Cup, where she finished fourth with a score of 12.600.

An impressive display, Scott continues to prove her All Around capabilities, thriving across apparatus, as she builds on an impressive World Championship display at the end of 2025.

“This World Cup was a great chance for Kate and Bre to get back into the swing of competing on the international stage, and their results are great reward for all the work they have been putting in so far in 2026,” Duncanson said.

“I am confident it will act as a great springboard for the rest of the year.”

Elsewhere at the World Cup, Jesse Moore rounded out his Apparatus World Cup tour with a fourth-place finish on Parallel Bars. The South Australian put up a score of 14.066, which saw him finish just outside the podium, pipped for bronze by Ferhat Arican of the host nation (14.233).

Nevertheless, Moore returns home with some invaluable international experience across Germany, Azerbaijan and here in Türkiye, his trip headlined by the pair of bronze medals he collected in Baku.
