Matthew Northcott
Matthew Northcott (lawn bowls) acted as director for Jake Fehlberg who partnered Helen Boardman and her director Peter Doherty where they finished 4th in the mixed pairs B2/B3 at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. Matthew started playing bowls when he was 10 after the family moved from Adelaide to a small rural community and his father wanted to meet new people. He has played over 60 games for South Australia and won multiple state titles, including the open men’s singles and fours in 2014-15. He was also named South Australian State Player of the Year in 2015-16 and South Australian coach of the year in 2020-21. Matthew combines playing with a professional career in the sport. He joined Bowls South Australia in May 2016 as Development Officer, rising through the ranks to tackle the role Operations Manager and is now the South Australian Pathways Coach. He is also head coach at Holdfast Bay Bowls & Croquet Club in Adelaide. Matthew has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Adelaide.
