VALE DEAN WOODS OAM
The three-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist Dean Woods OAM sadly passed away this week aged 55.
Woods competed at the Edinburgh 1986 Commonwealth Games won gold medals in the 4000m individual pursuit and as part of Australia’s 4000m team pursuit.
He added silver in the 10-mile scratch race.
Woods competed at the Victoria 1994 Games, winning gold in the team pursuit and bronze in the points race.

A post on his Facebook page paid tribute to Woods, who was 55.
“Today our boy rode his final lap. He’ll be missed by everybody whose lives he touched,” the post on Thursday afternoon read.
“Admired, loved and respected by all. A truly iconic legend.”

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) and the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) have jointly announced today the 20 national teams that will participate in the upcoming Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Gmaes hockey tournaments scheduled from 29 July to 8 August at the University of Birmingham, England.

HAYES, CASLICK APPOINTED CO-CAPTAINS OF WOMEN’S RUGBY 7S SIDE
Gold Coast 2018 silver medallists Demi Hayes and Charlotte Caslick have been appointed co-captains of the Australian Women’s Sevens side as the team sets sights on the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Both Caslick and Hayes are aided by Sharni Williams, who remains as a senior leader of the team, with rising star Madison Ashby rounding out the team as vice-captain.
