The 12-strong contingent of swimmers are ready to light up the pool deck when all the action of Trinbago takes off – here’s everything you need to know.

Athletes to watch at #Trinbago 2023.

Two rising stars to keep an eye on in the pool in Trinidad are 15-year-old Zoe Ammundsen and 16-year-old Samuel Higgs.

Higgs (Warringah Aquatic Swim) is coming off the back of a successful run at the recent National Age Championships where he won four medals, while Ammundsen (Iona Swimming Club) is a three-time Australian Age National Champion in both the 100m and 200m Backstroke.

The Australian Team as a whole will look to showcase dominant performances in the pool, building on the success of previous Commonwealth Youth Games outings.

In the last Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas in 2017, Australia won one gold, two silver and five bronze medals as they finished sixth on the medal table after all the action in the pool wrapped up.

Australia’s one gold medal was won by Meg Harris in the Women’s 50m Freestyle, who went on to compete at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, collecting silver in the same event, as well as a gold medal in the Mixed 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay.

Additionally, seven-times Games gold medallist Ariarne Titmus is an alumnus of the Samoa 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games, where she collected three gold and one silver before going on to debut at Gold Coast 2018.
