He now takes a step in a new direction, with the Gold Coast gold medallist and Olympic bronze medallist officially announcing his retirement from international competition.

EMERGING ATHLETE OF THE MONTH – TINA RAHIMI

New South Wales rising boxing star Tina Rahimi is the March winner of the Commonwealth Games Australia emerging athlete of the month award. 

It was quite the month for the younger boxer after winning Boxing Australia’s 2022 Selection tournaments, the female fighter is ready for the next stage of her career and has her sights set on gold. 

“I’m hoping to get the gold,” Rahimi said.

“I am getting ready to compete at the IBA Women’s World Championships (in May) and then I want to go to the Birmingham Commonwealth Games (in July).”

Rising boxing star Tina Rahimi is the March winner of the Commonwealth Games Australia emerging athlete of the month award after knocking out her competition at the Boxing Australia selection tournaments.

Last week Australia’s oldest ever Commonwealth Games athlete Enid Pate (nee Evans) passed away at the age of 102 years.

The 1938 Sydney Empire Games athlete lived longer than any Australian Olympian or Commonwealth Games athlete has.

BOWLS AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL SQUAD LEADERS ANNOUNCED

The leadership group of the Australian Jackaroos has been confirmed, with seven players selected across all national squads to represent the players as leaders.

To be in the stands in Birmingham supporting the Australian Team, for the first time Australian families and fans will be able to access group tickets for all events at the Commonwealth Games.

The Family & Fans Tour ensures Australian families and fans can sit and cheer together, stay together and play together at the Birmingham Games.
