The Australian Rugby 7s teams have been confirmed for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games with four history-making three-time Olympians set to lead amongst the 17 Commonwealth Games Australia alumni.

Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games gold medallists Charlotte Caslick and Sharni Smale will become Australia’s first triple Olympians in Rugby 7s, along with Henry Hutchinson and Nick Malouf.

Caslick and Smale, who won gold at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, will be joined by Dominique du Toit, Faith Nathan, Maddison Levi, Sariah Paki and Tia Hinds, who all return for their second Olympics.

Rounding out the women’s team is Bienne Terita, Bridget Clark, Isabella Nasser, Kaitlin Shave and Teagan Levi, all of whom will make their debut.

On the men’s side, Nathan Lawson, Maurice Longbottom and Dietrich Roache return for their second Games, while Ben Dowling, Matthew Gonzalez, Mark Nawaqanitawase, Henry Paterson, Hayden Sargeant, Corey Toole and James Turner will contest their first Olympics.

The women’s team enters Paris as the reigning World Series champions, after a nail-biting victory in the semi-final against New Zealand before defeating France to win last month’s World Series final.

The men’s team tasted podium success at the Cape Town and Perth legs of the World Series with a further two top-4 finishes.

In Paris’ Stade de France the Australian men will face off against Argentina, Samoa and Kenya in their pool matches, while the women will take on Ireland, Great Britain and South Africa.

The Rugby Sevens competition will be held at the Stade de France, located in the suburb of Saint-Denis. The men’s competition will be held from Wednesday 24 July to Saturday 27 July and the women’s from Sunday 28 July to Tuesday 30 July.

With thanks to the Australian Olympic Committee and Rugby Australia.
